Birdcage Engagement Cake / Kek Sangkar Burung

This cake was for my nephew's engagement cake, Mior Asrani. First, when I sketched the cake on paper and figure out the measurements of the cake, I did not take into consideration of the cake had to endure traveling 300km. The ceremony will be held at Tanjung Piandang, where you can view paddy fields a far as the eyes can see.

While baking the cake then the thought surface.....but too late to change the design........have to take the risk.....

It was a chocolate cake that measured 9 inches tall with 6 inches in diameter. When I had done the decoration, I felt it will be a disaster if its collapsed during delivery. The worst part of it, I had forgotten to put a wooden rod in the middle of the cake to reinforce its stability....arghhhh!!!

However, thank God the cake survived the journey and in the hot Malaysian June weather  .......

It was reaching near 40 degrees Celsius on midday, luckily it was just a short distance towards the bride-to-be's house.

Baby Butt Cake

This was the baby girl's father idea, he showed me the photo and requested me to do it. It was quite a challenge, though I have made a few changes so it looks more realistic. Actually this was two tiered cake, both chocolate cake.

Birthday Cake - The Golden Skull

This skull cake for my friends who celebrated their birthday on the same week.

Birthday cake - Evan Raez

Three tiered cake for a one year old boy. The theme was football and the parent wanted a Liverpool logo on the cake.

The child mother, Ms. Intan basically specified the design.

Hantaran Cake - Dianah

The client wanted two figurine on the cake, complete with traditional attire.

Wedding Cake - The Peacock, Ezani's Wedding

Many mistakes on this wedding cake. Execution was very poor - can see the cake layers under the fondant.

Hantaran Cake - Pillow Cake

In my opinion, the gum paste orchid flowers should be the smaller version. Due to its size the pillow was overwhelm by the orchid.

Birthday Cake - Barisan Nasional

I guess the birthday boy is a Barisan Nasional's staunch.

Hantaran Cake - Pillow Cake - Sabrina

This pillow cake was inspired from the 60's fashion pillow. Since the theme color was lilac, peach and baby blue, the overall appearances was quite subdued.

Hantaran Cake

This was a last minute order. Not satisfied with the flowers though. Due to time constraint, I don't have time to brush the dust color properly onto the gum paste flowers.

Birthday Cake - The Aeroplane

The above cake was for a one year old boy. I really happy with the outcome, however there was a technical glitche, the wings of the plane started to drooped.......lesson learned, instead of gum paste I should have used cardboard. I have to put satay stick to hold the wings.

Lover's Bed : Bridal Shower Party

This cake was requested by a group of ladies who were organizing a hen party. They e-mailed a few photos as samples of what they have in mind, however they also gave me freedom on the design. I browsed the internet and try to look for a design that was not too time consuming.
I fact, I was quite amazed of the results, I really enjoy doing the little details around the bed!

Engagements: Abdullah Khubayb and Raja Nadia Sabrina's Hantaran

Sabrina requested a pillow cake with flowers adorned on the pillow. Actually, based on my original design, there should be an embroidery design on the pillow, however I had to change to other design because she requested to deliver earlier on the eleventh hour. In fact, the purple peony flower should be brush again with pink edible powder for enhancement but due to time constraint I have to let go.

I am not satisfied with the outcome because in my opinion the overall look of the design looks rather pale. However, based on the feedback, she seems to love it =)

Birthday Cake : Abstract with standup digits

I was requested to do this cake by my regular customer. He e-mailed the photo and I managed to make it looks similar.

Hantaran: Sabrina's 'Merisik' Ceremony

It was a rainy season and I am having problem to dry my gum paste flowers, butterflies and leaves. There’s no way the gum paste will get dry, high humidity will makes it even softer. The only way was to put into an air conditioner room.

These three small cakes were 5 inches square with different height. The theme colors were peach, blue and maroon with turquoise butterfly.

Her family also ordered cupcakes and carrot cake for guest.

Ideas for hantaran : Pillow and Tiara Cake

This was a “Hantaran” cake from a groom to the bride. He just gave me the theme color that was white and gold. He gave me freedom to come out with the idea and I considered the budget was a bit “lavish”. He was very pleased with the end product and I wish to have more clients like him……:)

Its nice to be appreciated, thank you.

Yes, all is edible.

Topsy Turvy Cake

I've attended the 3 days Wedding Cake Classes at ICCA, Dataran Sunway. This was the product that I design using all the technique that had been taught. Anyway there’s been a lot of mistake that I’ve done and many lesson learned. Nevertheless it has been quite good learning experience for me.

Hat Cake

The Hat Cake – Hantaran
Actually this is a two tiered orange cake, the bottom was a 9 inch diameter with 1.5 inch height, the second cake 8 inch diameter with 4 inch height. Lilac was the theme color. The hat was embellished with fondant silver dusted ribbon with 2 sets of flowers. The brim of the hat was adorned with lace-like fondant.
