Cake Competition 2011

The Cake Competition was held in September 2011. I don't know why I've forgotten to put into this blog. My submission piece was very "lame". At first, I informed the organizer there's a possibilities I won't be submitting my piece because my beloved mum had just past away, that was one week before the competition, by then I've completed only 25% of the competition piece. 

However, I was informed by the organizer many participants had pulled-out due to unforeseen reasons. So, the organizer persuaded me to bring the piece to the competition venue. 

Wedding Cake Competition Poster 2011

Last week I went to ICCA Dataran Sunway to buy some cutters for my sugar flowers. Before paying the bills the counter girl reminded me to register my name for the Wedding Cake Competition held on 30th September. I saw the poster for for the first time and I was surprised to see my cake design entry in 2010, is on the posters with others entries. Well maybe the organizer wanted to show the varieties of design produce by their students.

Last year's first prize is the one shown on the right bottom, bird cage and beautiful yellow gumpaste flowers. His skills is fantastic especially on the brush embroidery and the intricacy of the gumpaste flowers.

Annual Wedding Cake Competition 2010

The Annual Wedding Competition was held on 30-31 October 2010. Organized by International Centre of Cake Artistry's (ICCA).  This was my first time entering into this competition. Coincidently and unfortunately, this was  the time where I had many orders to fulfill. The winner of the competition had many experiences in entering his pieces at international level, so experinces and knew very well of the judges expectations was very crucial. Factors like design, skills and execution was part of the marks given.Eddie Spence was one of the judges. Below a few photos taken during the competition.

My entry - Comments from Judges - poor execution, design - quite good, color scheme - should be more brighter. Compare with other competitor - I'm far behind, need to practice more.
