I Pad Cake

I make a small I Pad butter cake for Amir's and Farah's birthday - who unfortunately share the same birth date. The cake was for dessert after a heavy lunch.

Actually this cake was an experiment using airbrush technique on buttercream. I've yet to acquire the skills of controlling the amount of color discharged through the airbrush pen - well not bad for first attempt.

Multi-Colored Butter Cake

We do received a few request for a multi-colored layer butter cake or sometimes multi-colored or rainbow marble butter cake. Actually the taste is just a ordinary butter cake and usually will be iced with white buttercream.

A thin layer of fruit preserve in between the cake will be applied so the cake won't slide and to keep the cake moist.

The finish product, I suppose when you cut the cake there's an element of surprise.

Birthday Cake - Lightning McQueen

This was a chocolate cake with buttercream icing.

Wedding Cake - Sabrina

This four tiered wedding cake consisted of chocolate and coconut cake alternately. Initially I wanted to use  fresh flowers, however, the florist advised not to use it because most Malaysian flower farmers used pesticide and insecticide. So instead I used silk flowers and these flowers must be washed and dried prior to the event.

The boy who loves schoolbus

Since Afeeq loves school buses, his mother requested to have a small cake in the shape of school bus. It was quite a challenge to do a small bus. This cake was 7 inches in length, 3 inches wide and 3 inches in height.

His mother also ordered cookies as a token to Afeeq’s friends.

Christmas Tree Cake

Christmas Tree Cake

I used the doll’s skirt baking pan to create this 3D Christmas cake. You have to trim a bit on the top portion so it will look pointed. This was a vanilla sponge cake with fresh cream and blueberry fillings. The miniature presents around the tree was also sponge cake with fillings. If you observed carefully there was also a few miniature candy canes and fairies (looks more like a blob) made from royal icing.  I spend more time on decorating the miniature presents as compared with the tree, though I really enjoyed doing it.

This cake was for a client who celebrated Christmas Eve with her husband’s relatives. This is an annual affair where her husband’s relatives will gather and there will be a roasted turkey with their own special stuffing that she always looking forward to.. yum, yum.

Hantaran : Chocolate Cake

Hantaran for Azlan and Hidayah

Initially my client wanted a fondant icing cake; however I advised her for chocolate cake taking into consideration that this cake will be brought to another distant place. It was a rainy season with high humidity.

I have seen a fondant icing cake that has bloated and looks “melted” during one of my friend’s function. It looks awful and I regretted not taking photo to show sample how it looks.

Shahiza's hantaran cake

This love shaped pink cake was from the groom to the bride, Shahiza. This cake was a vanilla cake with chocolate ganache fillings.
The cake was adorned with royal icing flowers. Royal icing flowers took at least one to four days to really dried, depends on the “thickness” of the flowers. It will be easily brittle if it not totally dried.

Soccer Ball Cake

This was my fist attempt to do a soccer ball. Before finishing, it was covered with chocolate ganache and at the same time my friend drop by to collect her cupcakes.
She saw the “work-in-progress” cake on the table and said the cake looks like a beehive rather than a ball.
This cake was for a fourteen years old boy and I’ve been told by his mother he’s just been discharged from a hospital for a minor surgery. Hope he like the cake.

Doll Cake and Basket Weave

The doll and basket weaved cake were for Ms. Diana’s (my neighbor) daughter, Nor. I delivered 2 hours before the event, so that the chocolate cake will be softened by then. It was held at the nursery and most of the invited guest were under 12 years old.
I manage to drop by the nursery and just in time for the celebration. I realized there were new designs on the doll’s skirts, full of small “Finger Prints”.

Sahlawati's Wedding

3 Tiered Wedding Cake – Basket Weave
Initially she requested cake with fondant icing but I advice her for butter cream cake because the event was held outdoor (typical Malay kampong with many trees) and probability of raining in December was high. High humidity will make the fondant “sticky” and it doesn’t look good. In fact it was drizzling when I reached her house somewhere in Banting. Weather plays an important role in any event, certain cakes may look nice in pictures but come actual day, it may not look nice especially in our country where humidity is very high. Thus it is vital that this is bought up during discussions.

Token to the Groom’s Family
Sahlawati ordered chocolate cupcakes as a token to the groom’s family for her “nikah” ceremony.

Sahlawati’s Hantaran (Heart shaped)
This hantaran was a gift to the groom during their wedding ceremony at the groom’s house.

"Potong Jambul" Nestum Cake

Butter Cake cream laced with Nestum, the aroma is SEENFULLY SEDAP!!!!!!

This cake was a gift to a friend, who is celebrating her daughter's 45 days old birthday and her 'Potong Jambul' ceremony. (Its a ceremony done by the Malay culture to celebrate a person's first hair cut)

The design was copied from Wilton Book of cake decoration. The cake was decorated with daisies made from royal icing, the 'baby face' with a nice 'jambul' appropriate for the event.
